The Indians fell short again. Spectacularly. Against the hated New York Yankees. And once again, I told you so. The Indians will never again win a World Series as long as they retain their name, and especially their offensive mascot. It's time to rebrand the team. All but the most masochistic bigots will agree.

THIS ORR THAT?

Did you think we left? That like so many, we abandoned South Euclid and moved to some backwater in Geauga County? Think again. We’re here and intend to stay and will continue to point out wrongdoing when we see it.  

Lately things have been looking up in South Euclid. Oakwood is nearly finished and almost filled to capacity. The last parcel of Cedar Center North has been sold and will be home to a Planet Fitness gym. My wife has already pestered me to join when they open. The shopping plaza at Mayfield and Green which has been an eyesore for decades is being rebuilt. That’s all well and good. But there are also the things that don’t make the news. The houses on our street are better kept up than just a few years ago. Occupancy is up. Vacancy is down. Fewer homes are being torn down.

Not all is perfect. Many of our roads look like they come from the 3^rd world. Too often I see walkers tossing trash on people’s lawns. Or not picking up after their dogs.  Or driving with their radios WAY too loud.

But there is good news for Ward 3.  Ed Icove is stepping down.

Hallelujah! That ambulance chasing clown has caused more misery for more people than you can imagine. Icove lives in one of the fanciest homes on South Belvoir from where he lords it over us little people. Ward 3 voters will finally be able to choose between two new candidates. As residents of Ward 3 we are very happy to hear this news.   

So far two candidates have stepped forward. Curtis Orr and Sara Continenza. 

Curtis Orr is a retired Cleveland Police Officer. Cleveland’s PD has gained a reputation as one of the worst Police Departments in America. But wait, you say, “Isn’t Curtis Orr African-American?” To which we respond, “Do you think the corruption in Cleveland’s Police Department is limited to white cops? Or to white bureaucrats like the morbidly obese and disgusting Steve Loomis? Think again. Because Curtis Orr suffers from the same character flaw that many Cleveland cops do. The same character flaw that Ruth Gray suffers from as we demonstrated here, here and here. By the way did we mention Icove is one of Ruth Gray’s besties? Curtis Orr thinks the law applies to everyone else and not to him. A 5 minute search of Cuyahoga County Court database records uncovered repeated unpaid bills and state taxes. As recently as this year, he still owes the State of Ohio unpaid taxes badly enough that the state has taken him to court over it. And he wants to be a guardian of our tax dollars? Gimme a break!

 

 

 

The last thing South Euclid needs is another ex-cop in office. We’ve got one in the person of Mike LoGrasso and he’s as slimy as Donald Trump. His unpaid debts have been well documented in the Sun Messenger.  Then there’s that loony Charles Turner who also used to be a cop. Maybe Turner and LoGrasso have some kind of cop turf war going on because you should see how they go after each other at council meetings!

In the interest of objectivity I also did a court record search for Sara Continenza and found a seat belt violation from 2012. It’s plain stupid not to wear your seat belt. But big whoop.  

 

Congrats to Chief Nietert

Congratulations to South Euclid Policy Chief Kevin Nietert, who has been sworn in as President of the County Police Chiefs Association last week. This is another merit for South Euclid’s police department, which has been singled out for effective, compassionate service. It’s a far cry from the shenanigans coming from Cleveland’s Police Department. They make a practice of hiring cops who’ve been fired from other departments, like Timothy Loehmann who shot Tamir Rice. Then the CPD and their flatulent obese union president Steve Loomis try to sweep the story under the rug. Contrast that with South Euclid’s Police Department which is a model of openness. Which regularly posts officers’ body camera videos to their facebook page.


But you wouldn’t believe it based on one disgruntled resident: Charles Turner. Turner is a Vietnam veteran and retired University Heights cop. Turner regularly protests outside city hall and speaks at city council meetings. I should say “blathers on” at meetings. Even meeting regulars who are critical of the Welo administration roll their eyes when Turner approaches the mic. He’s been repeating the same story at meetings and in the media for the past 2 years. Turner claims that Chief Nietert ordered a cop to use a South Euclid squad car to harass him by pursuing him at 60mph on Mayfield Road. Turner has been unable to produce any witnesses or a single piece of objective evidence to corroborate his story. This despite the fact that he regularly stands near the corner of Mayfield and Green and also at City Hall holding signs accusing the Chief of police brutality and Mayor Welo as being unfair to veterans. Turner also posts on Cleveland.com as Citycrew and chuckthecop. He even created dialogs between them as if anyone believes that Citycrew and chuckthecop are two different people. Still no one has come forward to support Turner’s claims. That’s because the incident never took place except in his troubled mind. Of course since South Euclid is the location of two Purple Heart Homes with a third on the way Turner’s accusations about Mayor Welo and veterans are easily refuted. Chief Nietert has declined to comment on Turner’s charges. Mutual friends tell me he doesn’t have the heart to bring negative publicity to an obvious victim of mental illness who wants to inflict his delusions on the rest of us.

Susan Miller, typical Greenie

It's no surprise to anyone who's observed events around here that Susan Miller of Cleveland Heights is a member of the Green Party and has made a field day of bashing Democrats for years. 

Those who've had the displeasure of meeting Susan Miller know that she's a typical Green party member. Doesn't bathe on a regular basis because that would waste water. She's against fluoridation and a chain smoker which would explain her halitosis and bad teeth. Like most Greenies I've met she's deeply racist, hates the blacks moving to Cleveland Heights, hates the Indian doctors at the Clinic.  

Some people are worried that angry delusional fools voting Green are going to cost Hillary the election the same way Ralph Nader cost Al Gore the election in 2000. I'm not one of them. At least 90% of Bernie's supporters are now with Hillary. Meanwhile loads of Republicans are running from Trump, most to Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and some to Hillary.

Dog Poop Douchebag

There's a special place in hell for people who don't clean up after their dogs. And there's a special place in this blog: public shaming. The woman driving this Subaru Forester, Ohio license plate GRM 5738 did not clean up after her two large dogs after they pooped at the Euclid Creek reservation. The dogs did not relieve themselves in a secluded area, but right in an open grass area where children play. SMH.

 

 

Julie Love can't Google

Do you remember Julie Love? She was the candidate for Cleveland Heights City Council who ran on a platform of "fiscal responsibility" last year. Then it was discovered that she had a blog, two actually which posted some pretty offensive stuff. She did not win a seat on council.

Anyone can blog. Anyone can Google. But not everyone does it at the right time.  Take this, posted just this morning on the Friends of Julie Love page:

Julie has recently submitted her application for Jeff Coryell's council seat. But if she can't be bothered to fact check the latest internet meme, then methinks she's lacking basic cognitive skills needed to hold office. Not that most of council is much better. 

Miscarriage of Justice

When it comes to the Cuyahoga County grand jury's decision not to prosecute Cleveland cop Timothy Loehmann in the shooting of 12 year old Tamir Rice words escape me. Timothy McGinty has to go!

Over the last 20 years we've seen the slow rebirth of our Northeast Ohio region. But crap like this ensured Cleveland will continue to be a laughingstock in the eyes of many. The way the CPD treats African-Americans, the Republicans should feel right at home here next summer.

Ruth Gray has been habitually late in paying her property taxes. Her pattern of tax delinquency went on for years starting in 2005 and as recently as 2012 the State of Ohio sent notice to garnish her wages from her employer. Would you want a Mayor responsible for fairly allocating your tax monies who was also a serial tax dodger?

Ruth Gray engaged in a pattern of racial discrimination as an employee of the City of Bedford Heights. Her behavior resulted in lawsuit which cost Bedford Height $2.2 million dollars including legal fees back in 2010. In 2012 she continued her behavior to the extent that Bedford Heights mayor Fletcher Berger suspended Gray without pay for three days and threatened termination if she engaged in such behavior again. Does anyone believe she wouldn't try to pull the same stunts while Mayor of South Euclid. God forbid!

Bibi lies again

Have you noticed the drop in gas prices over the last 2 weeks? You can thank President Obama. His patience and perseverance have paid off in the historic peace deal with Iran, which means Iran will be able to sell goods and services especially oil to Europe. And even though the UN sanctions haven’t officially been lifted yet, just the knowledge that Iran will be selling oil has caused a price drop. Funny how the market works. It’s not just supply and demand but PERCEIVED supply and PERCEIVED demand that influences prices. This is great for American and European consumers but not so great for Putin’s Russia which is a major oil exporter and will be hurt by the drop in prices.

Everyone of America’s allies has praised the Iran deal. Except Israel. Their Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the deal as Munich style Appeasement. The more desperate Bibi gets the greater his hyperbole. I swear Bibi Netanyahu has done more to stoke up anti-Semitism in the world than the most frothing at the mouth neo-Nazi. He’s lost credibility among all but the AIPAC clowns and Republican presidential wannabees who conveniently forget Reagan SOLD arms to Iran.

 

Some people are so dumb they don’t take a step back and look at the big picture.

What the Iran deal does is take Iran at their word that they want to develop nuclear power for peaceful purposes only. Beyond the fact that enriching Uranium requires more than Iran’ll be allowed to keep, it also takes time. In that time, the U.S. and other Western powers will be able to open Iranian markets and influence Iran’s leaders. Not the religious ones, they’re loons. But the political leaders and the intelligentsia who are important as Iran has a young highly educated population.

There’s the other side of the deal, the unspoken side. Say Iran DOES violate the deal and IS caught trying to develop nuclear weapons. Then President Obama or his successor has the political cover to bomb the crap out of them and no one, Republican or Democrat, will complain.

Confererates and rainbows...

There's been a lot of talk about flags lately. Especially Confederate flags and rainbow flags.

I fly the American flag on my home exclusively. But when it comes to my neighbors I'd much rather live next door to someone with a rainbow flag than someone with a Confederate flag.

Goodwill, worse than Walmart

In case you haven't heard, Goodwill is moving into the former Walgreen's at Mayfield Road and I-271.

Goodwill is a horrible company exploits the disabled by paying them less than minimum wage sometimes as low as $1.40 an hour. Their wage structure complete with high paid executives makes Walmart look like a paragon of corporate generosity.

Here's where I call out the hypocrisy of the Citizens for Oakwood clowns. They picketed and protested about Walmart's low wages and benefits but will say nothing about Goodwill. When Walmart moved from Cleveland Heights to South Euclid they cried "POACHING", yet said nothing when Fitworks moved from Hilltop Plaza to the old Catalano's up the road.

Baltimore

We are disgusted by the rioting in Baltimore. It accomplishes nothing positive. When we view footage of buildings aflame and cops being assaulted it makes us all the more grateful that we live in Cleveland. Police brutality should be condemned and addressed. That will happen in Baltimore and in Cleveland. But unlike Baltimore the citizens of Cleveland know how to protest peacefully without riots. The rioters are "lawless f---ing animals".

FLASH! Heights side of Oakwood sold to HAC

This information was published in the Heights Observer on March 30.

The Hebrew Academy of Cleveland is in the final stages of buying the Cleveland Heights side of the old Oakwood Country Club. The HAC has signed a letter of intent and will probably finalize the deal within the next couple weeks. A new school will be built to house about 250 students grades 1-6. The HAC hasn't said whether they will preserve renovate or demolish the old clubhouse.

Fran Mentch has yet to issue her usual fatwa or maybe she's given up caring. Not a peep from any of the other usual suspects either. It appears they really were all in it as lackeys for the dying Severance Center.

Regal Severance closes

The slow death of Severance Center continues. The Regal Cinemas and IHOP there have closed. Useless idiots like Garry Kanter and Fran Mentch will doubtless blame this on Oakwood Commons even though it has no theater. But I've never seen any of Regal's auditoriums at Severance more than 1/4 filled since they reopened 15 years ago. In an ironic twist, Cleveland's Film Festival is currently underway.

We have learned that Neveah is leaving it's location and moving to the former Sweetie-Fry location in the Cedar-Lee neighborhood. If a business from Cleveland Heights was moving to South Euclid the usual losers would cry "POACHING" and announce a boycott. We will be content to wish chef Eric Rogers "good luck and we hope to see you soon."
